Lesson Plans: The Language of Respect. About Lesson Plans: In an age of charter schools, home schools, No Child Left Behind, standardized testing, overstretched public schools, the battle for resouces, voucher plans and evolving notions about special education and special needs, the act of teaching has never been more complicated. In Lesson Plans, a group of teachers chronicle their experiences during the first weeks of the school, offering first hand accounts of today’s classroom challenges f
REVIEW - The Solaris Book of New Fantasy (Part 3) (3 clicks)
October 11 2008
Been quite busy lately. But here's the third part of my serialized review of The Solaris Book of New Fantasy, with comments for another three stories. For those who missed it, part one is here and part two is here. The ninth story in the anthology is The Wizard's Coming by Juliet E. McKenna, a piece about a company of riders running from a terrible mage in a medieval-like setting. It is a short epic that drags on many characters, places, and plot twists to tell a tale of duty and betrayal.

The matches continue to be a close fight, and this time, it was the clash of Hanyuu and San that proved to be a nailbiter, especially for Higurashi fans that got burnt once before. But on the flip side, Seto no Hanayome fans bet all their stakes on this round, with both their characters fighting in separate matches … in the end, both their characters were in the same place in the end of the round. So says Deanna Isaacs in the Chicago Reader’s Onstage blog. Here’s my other favorite line: Didn’t they crank the volume at Gitmo? I can’t, and won’t speak to to Deanna’s experience at this production. It was her experience. But, as a experienced

Female leadership and initiative, in short, are customarily presented to us as a form of social pathology. What is astonishing is not merely gay and lesbian America’s casual disrespect for older feminist activists, who fo
